Android App Review: Steam Cards
I would remember when I was still young, I love playing Memory Games on our computer. I would spend long hours in front of the computer because I was so obsessed with the matching of objects hidden under the flap of cards that are laid beautifully on the screen. But now that computers are solely for social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and others, computer games have been washed away by the innovation of technology. Good thing, in this app-obsessed world, Teshika Ltd. brought back to life my favorite game way back in childhood! With some twists and turns, definitely it is indeed more fun to play !
If you’re undergoing this so-called short-term memory and you just tend to forget important or not-so-important things easily, then I’m very sure that this game will help you solve that problem. Remembering things would somehow look fun when you play this memory game called Steam Cards! Hence this is not just your typical matching cards. I’ll spill the beans about this cool app on my Android app review after the break.
You’re probably familiar with the usual matching cards that we’ve grown playing with. A simple game which lays cards on the screen with the objects hidden under their flaps, right? But if we love the same game that we used to play way back, then I must say that this is one amazing must-try app! Let’s all dig into more details regarding this matching card game. You better start your engines now!
Teshika Ltd.‘s is a free casual and classic Android application which allows its users to tap on the cards shown on the screen and match each other respectively. But somewhere in between lies a cool story. The basic idea of the game takes place on a steam engine which is manually manipulated by a girl mechanic named Teshika. Your task is to match all the cards laid on the screen and help Teshika disable the steam engine before it explodes! Are you up for the challenge? Game on!
Match the Cards!
The simple game begins with a set of cards that are one by one laid on the screen of which you’ll have a glimpse of the objects hidden under the cards, but just for a split second. If you have keen eyes, luckily you will spot on those matching cards in an instant!
The number of given cards displayed on the screen vary per level. At the start, you would basically get a small amount of cards which is quite easy on your part to unlock and match them all. But as the game progresses and you reach a higher level, the number of cards will be higher, more than 20 cards perhaps.
You will notice that there’s a meter on the upper part of the screen. And that is the steam engine. Basically, the red color refers to the heat of the engine and if you matched some cards, it is equivalent to the cooling of the engine and increases the time before overheating. So you better match the cards quickly so that the meter won’t reach its maximum level and the steam engine won’t explode!
Until you’re doing well in the game, it goes on and on. However, if you’ve ran out of time from matching the cards and the steam engine already exploded, the game is now over. After which, your score will be shown on the High Scores tab, only if you’ve got higher scores and you’re deserving to belong to the Top 10 list. I guess that’s the challenge in this game, right? Uncover and match more cards as quickly as you can so as not to let the steam engine explode and gain high scores in return!

As a memory game fanatic, I was amazed with how the game works. Although it is just a simple game, having some twists in between the game such as the limited time and the overheating of the steam engine, these things really make this an interesting app. It’s actually a unique take on memory cards since the mechanics of the game is plain simple, right? The steam engine story behind it makes it somewhat engaging to the players, so that they have a goal in their mind while playing. I was engrossed playing with the app the first time I laid my hands on my tablet. It’s really addicting! I don’t know if it’s just me or the game. Perhaps both, right? I love the simple yet excellent graphics and interface of the app. An easy and fun game like this doesn’t need to be too complicated. This game has a perfect mix of everything! Considering it’s free, the app is still worthy of download despite the many ads that appear below the screen.
Will you save the Steam Engine?
I know remembering something is such a difficult thing to do. What more if there are lots of cards laid on the screen with the objects hidden underneath? I must say that you will really be challenged and pressured yet thrilled playing with this matching card game just to help Teshika control the heat of the steam engine. I’ve actually didn’t finish the level 6 because I was too preoccupied with lots of images already that I tend to forget others in a snap! But I must say, definitely kids and even adults would warmly embrace this interesting and cool app!
Overall, this app deserves a four-star rating, mainly because it has a slick, smooth and awesome user interface. If you can’t imagine how the game works, then I’ll present to you the demo of the Steam Engine on the video below.
